Somatostatin Receptor Study with 111-Indium Octreotide

Indication

Scanning of intrahepatic and extrahepatic neuroendocrine tumors.

Procedure

Whole Body and SPECT scans 4 hrs and 24 hrs post IV administration.

Attention

Due to the very high price of the Octreotide it is not covered by Medicare. It requires referral of patients through the public hospital system.

Somatostatin Receptor Study

Mr BT,56 yo with known carcinoid. Extent of the disease ?. 24 h Octreoscan presents multiple lesions in the liver and no extrahepatic lesions. Physiological uptake in spleen and kidneys.
