Liver Blood Pool Scan - SPECT (with Tc-99m RBC)

Indication

Detection or confirmation of liver haemangiomas (suspected after liver US or CT scan).

Procedure

IV injection of RBC labeled in vitro, early planar views,than SPECT tomography 3 hrs later (after reaching appropriate RBC equilibrium).

Attention

If haemangioma suspected on US basis only - Liver-spleen SPECT scan or liver CT is obligatory before this investigation.
