Gastric Mucosa Scan (with Tc99m - free pertechnetate)
Indications
Detection of Meckel's diverticulum containing gastric mucosa. Detection of Barret's oesophagitis (an ancillary test for diagnosis).
Preparation
Overnight fast. Ranitidine 150 mg orally 2 hours before, or (children) 1mg/kg IV 20 min before injection of Tc99m.
Procedure
40 mins continuous scanning in supine position.
Significant ectopic gastric mucosa in mid right abdomen.
