CARDIAC SCAN: FIRST PASS - GATED BLOOD POOL (with Tc99m - RBC)

Parameters

First Pass Cardiac Study with calculation of RVEF (ejection fraction), and Pulmonary Transit Time (Optional: Quantification of L-R shunt). Gated Blood Pool Study with calculation of LVEF and assessment of wall motion abnormalities with regional EF (for 9 regions of LV).

Indications

Estimation of LV and RV function and wall motion abnormalities (cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, monitoring of cardiotoxicity in patients on chemotherapy).

Preparation

Pyrophosphate 1mg I.V. (tin) before RBC labeling.

Attention

In patients post AMI, bypass surgery and with suspected IHD, Sestamibi Study at Rest has much higher value over Tc99m –RBC gated study.
