CARDIAC HOT SPOT SCAN - SPECT (with Tc99m - Pyrophosphate)
Indications
Assessment of recent myocardial necrosis (within 100 hours post cardiac event). Best quality of the scan if performed 36 - 72 hours post cardiac event.
Procedure
I.V. injection in the ward and scan 3 hours later.
Collection of Tc99m pyrophosphate in apical area of the heart - 48H post severe chest pain.
