Diagnostic Procedures
Isotope imaging is performed after the injection of a radioisotope into a patient’s vein in the arm. The imaging may commence immediately after injection or some hours later depending upon the type of scan being performed. Isotope imaging is generally contraindicated during pregnancy (except under special circumstances), breast feeding is contraindicated for a period after the injection of the radioisotope, therefore the patient must inform us if pregnant or thinks may be pregnant, or is breast feeding before the injection.
